Details

The Engage Solar kit gives you access to your home energy usage and solar generation in a way you never experienced before. Using your computer or smartphone you can view how much energy and money you are spending at home and also how much energy your solar panels are generating, at any given time, even when you are not at home.

The Engage Solar works only for Gross Metering Systems. Gross metering solar systems have been set up to send all the solar power they generate to the grid. This means you pay for all the energy you use in your household – and receive a payment (or a ‘feed-in tari ’) for the solar energy your system feeds back into the grid.

Gross Metering Explained

Product description

There are two main elements that make the Engage System:

1. Engage Hub Kit:

It is the device that enables you to monitor energy and for the data to be sent to the internet. The system comes with two CT Sensors and two transmitters to monitor your energy used and home and the energy gererated by the solar panels.

2. Engage Web Portal and Apps (http://engage.efergy.com):

It gives you access to instant and historical data in a way you can easily understand and engage with.

It will take you 2 minutes to install and register your account in the portal.

It is completely free to use. THERE ARE NO SERVICE FEES.

The information is updated instantly, which means you can act immediately, helping you to be more energy efficient and save money on your electricity bill. The Engage Web Portal displays the information in energy units (Watts and kWh), cost (£) and carbon emissions (kg. of CO2). The Portal also enables you to set a monthly budget and to track this accordingly, giving you an indication of what the cost is going to be by the end of the month.

You can also open the Android or iPhone App and walk around the home switching appliances on and off to see how much energy particular devices are using. When you are away on holidays, at work or on the move and you want to know how much energy your home is using at that time or in the past, you simply access the portal. The Web Portal and App include multiple features that will help you save on your electricity bill.

Submetering

The Engage system is scalable and you can add more Submetering kits to monitor group of electricity circuits in the home.

Why Include Wireless Electricity Displays

The Engage System is complimentary to Wireless Electricity Monitors, and vice versa. While the Electricity Monitors tell you what's happening in the home, while you are at home, as they instantly display your energy information in front of you, with the Engage Hub Kit you can access to the information anytime from anywhere.

Both Engage Solar kit and Wireless Electricity Monitors complement each other perfectly.

Suitable to Monitor Holiday Homes, Rented Properties & SMEs

The Engage System is particularly useful for businesses. It allows you to check quickly multiple locations remotely and analyse additional electricity circuits within your building. Many shop owners, small offices and companies managing multiple properties use this product to monitor energy usage.

If your building has a 3-Phase electricity system, you simply need to add two additional CT sensors. You can also get bigger sensors, up to 120A each, names XL Sensors if your cables require bigger capacity CT sensors.

This is the ONLY device on the market that will monitor my domestic electrical energy use. The PV panels on my garage roof are connected via an inverter to the consumer unit and incoming mains in the house via a 16sq mm armoured underground cable. This cable also supplies the garage ring main and lighting.
All other monitoring equipment I have read about requires a current-transformer clamp on the meter tails and another on the inverter output with both sensors connected by wire to a single transmitter. This is impractical for me because one current clamp needs to be right at the inverter in the garage and the other has to be several metres away in the meter cupboard in the house. The Efergy system uses a separate transmitter for each current sensor - so if I wanted to monitor other circuits (up to 5 total I think) I could simply add another transmitter and current transformer clamp.
I ordered direct from the manufacturers website and rec'd the gear 2 days later. A smaller package than I'd been expecting. It really was a breeze to set up, although I didn't quite follow their instructions. They advise that their hub should be connected directly to my internet router, but it's in the diametrically opposite corner of the house to where the two transmitters would be, with thick walls in between. So I used a dLAN "network via the mains' adapter to connect the efergy hub to my network. It sparked up straight away. Next, I set up the two current sensors and their transmitters. I did this from the comfort of my sofa because, I reckoned that would represent the same conditions as no solar generation and no mains consumption. I powered up both transmitters and went through the naming and pairing process . I didn't need to refer to the tech info leaflet nor the website - the process was really fast. I then took each transmitter to its operational location (meter box and inverter in garage). I clamped each onto the appropriate live cable, signed up on line and all just worked! Downloaded the app and that worked too. I suppose I SHOULDN'T be surprised - and if the box had a big shiny apple on it I wouldn't have been. But this is a 10 year old British company taking on the world! We're conditioned to expect a degree of quirkiness in home grown technology!
After playing with the system all evening, some of its niggles are apparent - but nothing that a couple of software revisions won't put right. Multiple tariffs needs implementing. I'm looking forward to a sunny day tomorrow to see how the graphics present the data when I'm exporting energy. Oh, and how about this... I emailed tech support tonight at 19:11 and rec'd a reply at 20:07. Not an 'acknowledgement' a proper reply written by a real person. I'm really pleased with the system and would recommend it unreservedly.

I find your software to be superior to the Watts Clever unit I have, the reason I bought this was to monitor my solar generation as well as my consumption. MBS,Sydney, Australia
